Nehru Planetarium of Nehru Centre, Mumbai, hereby invites applications for the purely temporary post of Science Educator (3 Posts) at the Science Laboratory.

Tenure:

The position is on a purely temporary basis for one year and may be extended by up to one more year based on requirements and the candidate’s performance.

The total emolument is Rs. 24,000/- per month.

Selection criteria:

1. Applicants must be residing in Mumbai (The Planetarium will provide no accommodation).

Qualification & Experience:

1. Full-time B.Sc./M.Sc. (Physics/Biology/Chemistry) from a recognised University/Institute with an aggregate of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
2. Must produce the appropriate degree certificate.
3. Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Desirable preference qualification & experience:

1. Candidate with M.Sc.
2. Good proficiency in teaching English, Hindi and Marathi.
3. At least one year of experience in teaching.
4. Knowledge of high- or low-level computer language (C++, Python, etc.) could attract extra points.

Job Description:

1. Teaching concepts of science through hands-on activities for Secondary and Higher Secondary school students.
2. To contribute toward the development of hands-on activities for the workshops.
3. To develop teaching materials such as write-ups, students’ worksheets, Pre & Post Test, etc., related to hands-on activities.
4. To contribute toward teaching and development of hands-on activities for teacher training workshops.
5. The work requires strong academic competence and the ability to interact with students and teachers from different schools and different boards of education.
6. To contribute towards developing science demonstrations for the Science Demo Lab.
7. Any other work assigned by the Director.
