The Nehru Planetarium of Nehru Centre, Mumbai, hereby invites applications for one post of Technical Assistant (Planetarium)

The Nehru Planetarium was commissioned on March 3, 1977, to foster scientific temper through edutainment (education + entertainment). The planetarium has made learning Astronomy a pleasant experience. It has also grown into a Centre for the scientific study of astronomy and for meetings of scientists and scholars for discussions and lectures, periodically arranged for various stellar and astronomical events.

Technical Assistant – 1 Post [Pay Level: S-6; 19900 – 63200]

Job Description:

  1. Maintenance-related work ofthe audio system and projector system in the sky theatre.
  2. Maintenance &Routine check electrical items and chairs in the sky theatre
  3. Maintenance of all exhibits in the planetarium.
  4. CCTV and IT-related work in the planetarium.
  5. Maintenance-related work in the Science Laboratory.
  6. Any other work assigned by the Director – Planetarium.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  1. The candidate must have 10 + ITI (Electrical/Electronic) from a recognized institution or university.
  2. Candidates with two or more years of experience or NCTVT with 1 year in a reputed organization will be given preference.
  3. The candidate should not exceed 35 years as on 1stJanuary2026.
  4. The candidate must be residing in Mumbai, with his/her own accommodation.
  5. The candidate must know English, Hindi and Marathi.
  6. Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications.
  7. Additional knowledge of IT would be given preference.

The shortlisted candidate will be asked to appear for a written test and a skills/trade test on handling the projector system in the sky theatre, as well as other work related to the planetarium.
