Outstanding Features of KOHA OPAC
The Nehru Centre Library has automated its library operations with the Integrated Library Management System KOHA. One of the important modules the KOHA software offers is it Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The OPAC boasts of some outstanding features, some of them are listed below
- 1. It provides a simple and clear interface for users to perform tasks such as searching and reserving books
- 2. It is user friendly and easy to navigate
- 3. Allows for searching of an item by title, author, subject, ISBN, series and also call number
- 4. Apart from the title, author searching, the OPAC provides the facility to browse by specific collection like biographies or children’s collection, fiction or non- fiction etc.
- 5. New books added to the library collection is continuously displayed on screen as ‘New Arrivals’
- 6. Useful links or links to other library websites are provided
- 7. Apart from simple search, advanced search facility is provided where the user has the option to search by specific item type like art catalogue, board books, maps, guides, comic stripes
- 8. The OPAC displays the address, timing and telephone number of the Library
- 9. OPAC users who are logged in can place reservation on library items and add books to their cart
- 10. Browse shelf facility is given in OPAC
- 11. A hyperlink to Amazon is provided for the books
