Sant Tukaram: Still Transmitting

A feature-length film essay in English

Written & Directed by Ramesh Mulye | Produced by Sunil Sachdeva

Born in seventeenth-century Maharashtra, Sant Tukaram’s poetry has travelled remarkably far beyond its language and its land.

From Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi to W. B. Yeats; from G. A. Deleury and Lothar Lutze to K. Satchidanandan, Tukaram has been translated, interpreted and encountered across languages and cultures.

The film explores this lesser-known journey of poetry and spirituality — and asks why, nearly four centuries later, Tukoba continues to resonate across languages and lands.
